Important Event Update

Since postponing New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty Hawke’s Bay Marathon from May 2020 to 19 September 2020, we felt very positive we would be able to deliver the event as planned in 2020.

However, due to the most recent Covid-19 outbreak in New Zealand, the Government has confirmed that Auckland will move to Level 3, and the rest of New Zealand will remain in Level 2 for an unknown length of time. At Level 3, Aucklanders are unable to travel and at Level 2 mass gatherings are restricted to a maximum of 100 people. Under these current restrictions unfortunately the event cannot proceed.

With the event only five weeks away and no certainty that the situation will improve, we regret to advise that New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty Hawke’s Bay Marathon cannot take place as planned on 19 September 2020.

Thanks to the support of our stakeholders, we are pleased to confirm that the event will return on 15 May 2021.

All currently registered athletes have been sent an email from us explaining their options. Please check your junk/spam folder first if you do not receive this email, otherwise please contact us at hawkesbaymarathon@ironman.com.

Please know that we share in the disappointment of this news. Our team, stakeholders and the Hawke’s Bay community were very much looking forward to hosting you next month. However, while we are prevented from holding the event in 2020, we are already looking forward to coming back stronger in 2021.
